Learn about ancient Peruvian goldwork & the Moche, Sicán, Chimú, & Inca civilizations while creating your own embossed replica gold mask. Discover the remarkable artistry of ancient Peruvian goldworking while exploring the rich cultures of the Moche, Sicán, Chimú, and Inca civilizations. Participants will learn how gold masks and other ceremonial objects were crafted and used to symbolize power, status, and spiritual beliefs. After examining the history and design of these extraordinary artifacts, attendees will create and emboss their own replica of the museum’s gold mask to take home. This hands-on workshop combines art, history, and creativity, offering a unique glimpse into the craftsmanship of ancient Peru.
