Her research and artistic practice merge traditional Japanese dyeing and weaving techniques with contemporary environments. Imafuku's scholarly work includes the historic revival of ancient purple dyeing methods—a complex, time-honored process she has recreated and exhibited internationally. This exhibit features "Summer Bamboo," a collection of mixed-media artworks created by students in Mieko’s monthly art classes. To create these pieces, students used collage techniques on top of traditional Japanese washi paper to capture the feeling of a summer breeze.
